Bar Manager, The Arts Club of Chicago
Background
Since 1916, The Arts Club of Chicago has been an important exhibitor of international contemporary art, a forum for both established and emerging artists, and a celebrated venue for performers from around the world. The mission of The Arts Club, defined at its inaugural meeting, is “to encourage higher standards of art, maintain galleries for that purpose, and to promote the mutual acquaintance of art lovers and art makers.” Both a private club and a not-for-profit that serves the city through exhibitions and programs, The Arts Club is a singular institution that plays an important role in Chicago’s cultural scene.
Located in Streeterville, The Club maintains a restaurant, which is open to members for lunch on weekdays. We also cater special events and daytime meetings. On October 22, 2016, we inaugurate The Drawing Room, a newly renovated, exquisitely detailed bar space for our members. Initial hours of operation are Tuesday-Friday, 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The space will also be available for rentals and club events on Mondays and Saturdays.
This is a full-time, exempt position with benefits. In addition to 24 regularly scheduled hours (Tues-Friday 4:00 pm to 10:00 pm), flexible additional hours are required (days, nights and weekends). A minimum of 35 hours required to maintain full-time status. Salary 45K or commensurate with experience. No tipping, but potential for annual bonus.
