About the Artist

Bert Elliot is one of the outstanding of the new American artists. His genius was born among the chimneys and matured on the pavements. He has never seen a nymph nor consorted with cherubs.

His work is a pictorial hurdy gurdy playing the city. He draws the crazy quilt streets, the leaning leaning warehouses, the Wizard of Oz telegraph poles and wind sparked citizens. He draws the sodden faced hashers, dopes, stevedores, Bohemians, and Babbitts. DEGAS, LAUTREC, and even GEORGE GROSZ are in his “Tradition…”
