A note on the exhibition:

It is with the greatest pleasure that Italy America Society presents and commends to the American public the first exhibition of Modern Italian Art which the Italian Government has, on our invitation, assembled sent to this country. In art Italy carries not only the glory but the weight of a past so extraordinary that it is indeed difficult for a contemporary artist from Florence, Rome, or Venice to overcome the handicap of the names of his countrymen which echo in schools and museums throughout the world.
